The avante-garde jazz trio, Trine, features members Rick Britto on saxes and Jim Robitaille on guitar and drummer, Chris Poudrier.
After releasing "Politics" in 2007, Trine's second recording, "+ 1", continues further with the trios collective improvisational explorations. Special guest artist, bassist Chris Lopes, joins Trine on their second CD, +1, released on the TrineArc Music record label in August 2010.
"PASSAGE" is a pastoral composition written by Trine's drummer Chris Poudrier. In the composition, the ensemble experiments with various approaches to "outside playing" including pedal tone concepts, superimposition of scales, deceptive dominant motions, bi-tonality, parallel melodic creation and even "free" cadence development.
